China: The First Nongovernmental Relief Team Entered Disaster Area and Distributed Supplies

On April 24, the joint relief team made up by China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation, Jinde Charity and Leshan Parish, Catholic Church went to the seriously-hit area Taipingzhen and distributed over 80t (including 50t rice, 25t oil, 5t salt, 6t milk powder and medicines) relief supplies to 8576 people of 1950 families there. Every family has got 3 bags of rice, 2 barrel of oil, and 5 bags of salt. And the milk powder were distributed to them according to the age and need of every family.

This batch of supplies could satisfy half a month need of each person and batches of supplies would arrive this area afterwards. According to people there, the joint relief team made up of China Foundation for poverty Alleviation, Jinde Charity and Leshan Parish, Catholic Church is the first nongovernmental team came to them. At present, supplies like tents and food are in badly need.
